J. West

     West is a freelance director, dramaturg, actor, educator and devised-theatre maker from the heart of the Midwest.  They have a passion for making, producing and directing new work and is always looking for opportunities to tell stories previously untold.
 

     Directing credits include a variety of world premieres, devised pieces and fully scripted productions for The Old Creamery Theatre, Theatre Cedar Rapids, SPT, The Omaha Theatre Company, The Llano Estacado Institute for the Performing Arts, and multiple venues and colleges throughout the Midwest. Credits include: RENT, The Rocky Horror Show, Machinal, Vinegar Tom, Sweeney Todd, Tin Woman, Making God Laugh, Beauty and the Beast, Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them, Those that Fall, Cloud 9, Waiting for Godot, Proof, The Learned Ladies, The Shape of Things, The Tempest, and Woyzeck.

 

     Upcoming productions include the world premiere of Conjure with Emory & Henry College in April of 2019, the world premiere of BREAD with Full Sun Theatre at the Portfring Fest in June of 2019, and the world premiere of The Drowning at Red Rock at Cornell College in April of 2020.

 

     West holds an M.F.A. in Theatre, with a dual emphasis in directing and acting, from Texas Tech University and is a member of LMDA and is an Associate Member of SDC.
